November 30, 2003 - Carlsbad, CA
NexPrise, Inc. (OTC BB: NXPS.OB) today announced that the GKN Aerospace Engineering Development Center has selected NexPrise to automate its engineering change requests and document management. Using NexPrise, the aviation and aerospace supplier anticipates that it will be able to handle engineering change requests 50 percent faster and reduce annual costs by more than $50,000.
GKN will use NexPrise Engineering Change Notice (ECN) Manager to automate its engineering change processes, providing greater visibility across its supply chain and the ability to increase customer responsiveness. Meanwhile document management capabilities in the NexPrise nProcess platform, the basis for all NexPrise applications, will enable the effective exchange information throughout the enterprise.
Until now, GKN's Meriden facility has had to rely on a paper-based process to manage its engineering change requests, making it difficult to maintain an audit trail and access documentation. Additionally, the division and GKN's U.S. headquarters in St. Louis have spent a significant time exchanging documents via mail because the two offices use different, incompatible document management systems.
"Customer responsiveness in combination with best-in-class technology drive our competitive advantage," said Frank Caputo, director engineering for GKN's Meriden facility. "NexPrise helps us to maintain this edge by providing the visibility and automation to accelerate the change management process and respond to customer queries faster and more efficiently."
By implementing NexPrise ECN manager and leveraging the WebSpace document management capabilities, the GKN Meriden facility will gain the visibility and document access throughout the engineering change process to speed its response to customers. The NexPrise software's ability to mimic the organization's own document management processes will allow employees to continue working much as they always have - gaining the benefits of automation with little or no training. At the same time, the software will allow the component supplier to combine data and documents from multiple enterprise systems and desktop applications into a single source of information, accessible 24x7.
